The new school curriculum revolves around cross-disciplinary projects carried out in small groups and was designed to professionalize the students even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Direction of CESI Ecole d\u2019Ing\u00e9nieurs wished to study the effects of this pedagogy on knowledge acquisition, competencies development and professional identity of the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This doctoral research was conducted over 3 years, and led to a PhD thesis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"results\" class=\"wp-block-group section has-white-background-color has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group wrapper__inner is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading title--2 is-style-title-cesi-underline\"><span>Main results<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This research work endeavours to question the challenges and assets of this learning environment as regards the professional identity construction of the future engineers. As the program was conceived to allow students to experiment engineering roles, we first assumed that it should positively affect their professional identity construction. We also advanced the hypothesis that its impact should differ from one student to another as students\u2019 individual dispositions interact with the learning environment and thus affect their experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The data collected supports the theory of the school curriculum contributing to students\u2019 identity development, through the iteration of efficient patterns of actions. They also bring out several development profiles \u2013professional identity dynamics that are bolstered through specific resources and levers of development, depending on students\u2019 set out goals for their training.
