Doctoral training

Doctoral program at CESI as part of the SMI Doctoral School – ED 432 and within CESI LINEACT.

Sciences des Métiers de l’Ingénieur doctoral school

The Sciences des Métiers de l’Ingénieur doctoral school (ED SMI) welcomes doctoral students from the Arts et Métiers, CNAM and CESI establishments; for CESI, their research activity will take place within the CESI LINEACT laboratory. ED SMI 432 is part of the doctoral college of the 2 major public establishments ENSAM and CNAM, which is responsible for setting up and organizing doctoral training dedicated to developing scientific skills that can be transferred to industry.

This doctoral program is open to students holding a Master’s degree in research or an equivalent diploma, who have demonstrated their aptitude for research. Holders of another diploma giving them the grade of master may apply for a doctorate, but must provide proof of a training program establishing their aptitude for research, and apply to the ED SMI for a recruitment notice.

Doctoral studies last 3 years: three years of research culminating in a thesis defended before a jury of specialists, leading to the award of a doctorate. The bac+8 level attained is the equivalent of a PhD in the English-speaking world.
