European prerogatives (RE2020) encourage the adoption of materials with a reduced environmental footprint due to the current state of climate. Researchers are currently investigating the use of natural fiber reinforcement in cementitious matrices as an eco-friendly approach to reduce the carbon footprint associated with construction materials.
Vegetal fibers are potential substitutes for conventional fibers used in building materials, such as polypropylene fibers. Hence, this article examines the mechanical characteristics and transfer properties of cementitious mortars fortified with vegetal fibers: flax, hemp, miscanthus and bamboo.
