For CESI, the main activity centers around a doctoral thesis on instrumented learning environments. The objectives of the proposed thesis can be formulated as follows:
- On a theoretical level: the interactionist perspective serves as the common basis for the work of the CESI LINEACT “Learning and Innovation” team. It can be summarized by a few formulas, cited among others, which are remarkably convergent: that of Lewin (1935, 79); Bandura (2003, 16-18) or Lahire (2012, 21), namely: behavior (practices) results from interactions between personality (dispositions) and the environment (context). From this perspective, the aim will be to construct a coherent conceptual framework and design a model linking the factors that promote persistence in instrumented learning situations to the resources (internal and external) related to the physical, social, and technical characteristics of environments, perceived from the perspective of “affordances” (Gibson, 1979; Simonian, 2016) or “cognitive attractors” (Lahlou, 2000). We will also look at how the factors promoting persistence in instrumented learning situations play a role in the Capability process (Fernagu-Oudet, 2018): conversion factors, choice factors, or both?
- Empirically: the aim is to validate the proposed model by comparing the study of instrumented learning environments in which the training courses offered by the partners of the Campus des Métiers de l’Aéronautique take place with the results obtained and the perceptions of the learners. The resources and characteristics of the environments can be measured using existing scales or adaptations thereof.

Achievements as of December 31, 2024 (last year of participation for CESI LINEACT):
- Drafting of the analysis model focusing on the power to act in educational situations.
- Preparation of the doctoral thesis defense in connection with the project.
