  • Project duration: 3 years

The EFFICIENCE Drone project, funded by the Normandy Region and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), focuses on the development of innovative drone-based solutions to improve Normandy’s resilience in terms of natural and industrial risk management. This project is led by the Normandy Drone Innovation Center (CIDN).

Within the framework of this platform, CESI is leading two research activities:

  • The first concerns the AUNIRIQUE project, “Real-time Digital Twin for Post-Incident Interventions in High-Risk Industrial Sites”, whose objectives are:

To create a digital twin of an industrial site

To highlight unexplored areas and risk-related elements/zones

  • The second activity, which is the subject of this letter, concerns the COBRA project, “Secure Human–Robot Collaboration Using a Cable-Driven Robot in an Industrial Environment”, with the following objectives:

Design and integration of a Cable-Driven Parallel Robot (CDPR) within the Industry of the Future platform of the CESI Rouen campus and its Flexible Production Workshop (FPW).

Design and implementation of safety solutions for this cable-driven parallel robot to enable safe collaboration with humans.

Achievements as of January 13, 2026:

COBRA

  • Scientific and technical monitoring on cable-driven parallel robots
  • Initial contacts with service providers
  • Formalization of requirements through the drafting of a letter of intent and a functional specifications document
  • Submission of a request for an amendment to the project to the Normandy Region
  • Recruitment of a research engineer for the development of safety solutions for the CDPR, 24-month fixed-term contract

AUNIRIQUE

  • Familiarization with Gaussian Splatting models for digital twin creation
  • Evaluation of different strategies for dataset creation in a context of scarcity of labeled data for industrial object detection
  • Recruitment of a research engineer, 24-month fixed-term contract
