The Engineering and Digital Tools research team conducts research in the fields of modelling, simulation, optimisation and control of complex systems, materials and processes, and human-system interactions in cyber-physical systems. These research themes, identified on the basis of industrial and societal needs, are in line with the application areas targeted by CESI LINEACT, namely Industry 5.0, Construction 4.0 and Sustainable Cities, and Digital Services.

The team :

The team deals with a wide range of issues, such as :

  • Analysis and optimization of building performance,
  • Simulation and optimization of flexible production systems,
  • Development of decision-support tools for production, maintenance or mobility,
  • Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to update digital twins of environment and human-system interaction,
  • Software framework design for digital twins interfaced with augmented reality and virtual reality,
  • Architecture design and evaluation of cyber-physical systems,
  • Materials and process integration.
